Self Healing with Lemons

LemonsLemons. It’s the season for them. Do you know why you should be paying attention? Adding them to your diet can make a difference in how you look and feel, and also plays a major role in preventing disease. It’s an easy first step to begin healing yourself! After indulging in the rich foods of the holiday season, this is a perfect time to start savoring this delicious and nutritious food. Pop a few slices into a mug of hot water when you wake up, or into a glass of iced water for an afternoon refreshment. Squeeze one over your salad or fish for an extra kick of flavor. You’ll be glad you did.

Three Things Lemons Do:

They improve the appearance and condition of hair, skin and nails.
Lemons are a great source of calcium, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium, minerals and antioxidants. They are both antiviral and antibacterial.

They cleanse our bodies
Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials by increasing the rate of urination. Putting lemon juice in your water can provide your liver with some relief as it filters toxins and processes nutrients.

They increase the alkalinity of your cells, making it difficult for diseases to thrive. Diseases occur when the body’s pH is acidic. According to recent research, cancer cells cease to function in an alkaline environment (above 7.5), since they need acid to thrive. Strokes and hypertension are also diminished and vitamin D is more easily absorbed. Even memory and cognition are improved. Check out this pH food chart to discover the foods that make you more susceptible to chronic conditions and which ones increase the body’s alkalinity to prevent and sometimes reverse disease.
